Professional Statement
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. In addition to working with children and families, I enjoy working with adults who seek to improve their quality of life or to sort through relationship concerns. I have experience working with children diagnosed with multiple mental illnesses and their families, adolescents and adults with alcohol and substance abuse problems, and clients dealing with sexuality and spiritual issues, ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and family issues.
I began my career in Virginia, where I worked in residential treatment for children ages 5 - 17 with serious emotional and behavioral problems. I continued this work in California with adolescents and their families at Sutter Center for Psychiatry.
I draw upon my background in philosophy and religious studies to address the needs of the whole person and to offer a respectful integration of my clients' faith, values, and culture into achieving their therapy goals.
